Care advice from “La Petite Ourse”

For a successful use a proper maintenance of washable diapers is the necessary!

Despite appearances, the maintenance of washable diapers is quite simple. Once your routine is established, all you have to do is enjoy the savings!

      BEFORE FIRST USE

We recommend washing the diapers and inserts twice before using them for the first time. This allows the fabric to have a better absorption and to help get rid of the sewing threads that would be stuck during the manufacturing.

      MAINTENANCE

      Storage before cleaning:

Close the Velcro securely on their flaps after use. This will help to prevent damage to your diapers. Place soiled diapers in a bucket (no water needed) or in a bag especially for soiled diapers. Wash the diapers every 2–3 days. It is important not to rinse the diapers before storing them and if you need to rinse them, make sure to have them self-dry or do a wash within 24 hours.

-Note that it is not necessary to remove the inserts before washing them, they will come out by themselves thanks to our two openings.

-Do not soak the diapers in water. They must be kept dry.

-A good storage systems should not leave an odour.

      Washing:

Rinse with cold water to get rid of poop residue.

Then do a regular wash cycle in warm or hot water with a soap that does not contain any fabric softener.

Do not use baby detergents they are not concentrated enough to properly clean the diapers.

If you have hard water, do not make a second rinse and use only a powder detergent.

Do not put too much water in the washer; the diapers must be able to rub against each other.

      Drying:

The inserts can go in the dryer without problems.

You can also put the diapers in the dryer if you make sure not to handle them while they are hot and if you do not over-dry them. This step allows you to tighten the threads and close the polyurethane fibres that cover your outer fabric (waterproof membrane).

We strongly advise you to extend your inserts and diapers in the sun as often as possible. The sun, in addition to being an excellent whitener, also acts as an antibacterial agent.
