Recommendations

0-6 months

A belly-to-belly carry with the baby in a crouched position is the most appropriate carrying position for a newborn until at least 4 months. The back should be nicely rounded like in mom's belly, the knees well up and the feet down. You can practice the skin-to-skin technique with a baby of 8 lbs and more, easily and safely. This position provides the comfort needed to develop a sense of emotional security. The squatting position is recognized for its benefits for the development of the baby's bones and joints. Before 6 months of age, avoid applying tension to the middle of the back. When attaching the horizontal extension, avoid over tightening the straps.

6 months and older

From 6 months onwards and when the baby is sitting up, his spine is strong enough to no longer need continuous support in the back. He no longer needs to be in the stretchy seat and can even put his arms out over the shoulder straps, if he is old enough.

More for your Trek

You can use the Chimparoo Evolutionary Belt as a replacement for the newborn seat if you want to put the baby's legs out on both sides.

For a seated carry beyond 18 months, we recommend the addition of Chimparoo Sling Bars or Chimparoo Leg Supports. You can also combine the two accessories.

The newborn seat is a stretchy piece of fabric that can also be used to cover the baby's back in cooler weather. It attaches at the waist near the waistband.

Instructions

It is very important to wash the baby carrier before the first use. The fabric and the various components are handled and transported in many places and the straps are more slippery before washing. We recommend hand washing with a no-rinse soap. Hang to dry and do not iron. You can use the straps protectors to avoid having to wash your baby carrier every day.

Please note that there may be some differences in the colour scheme, as each carrier is unique and cut from a striped fabric with many shades.
