Recommendations

0-6 months

The tummy-to-tummy type carry where the baby adopts a squatting position is the most suitable carrying position for a newborn and up to at least 4 months. The back should have a nice rounded shape like in mom's belly, the knees well up and the feet down. You can practice the skin-to-skin technique with a baby 8 lbs and over, easily and safely. This position offers him the comfort necessary for the development of his feeling of emotional security. The squatting position is recognized for its benefits for the development of the bones and joints of the baby. Before 6 months, avoid applying tension to the middle of the back. When attaching the horizontal extension, avoid over-tightening the straps.

6 months and over

From 6 months and when the baby is in a sitting position, his spine is strong enough to no longer need continuous support at the level of the back. He no longer needs to be in the extendable seat and can even extend his arms above the shoulder straps, if he is tall enough.

You can use the Chimparoo  evolving belt as a replacement for the newborn seat if you want to extend the baby's legs on each side. 

For carrying in a seated position beyond 18 months, we recommend that you add the Chimparoo stirrups or the Chimparoo leg supports. You can also combine the two accessories.

Instructions

It is very important to wash the baby carrier before first use. The fabric and the various components are handled and transported in several places and the fastening straps are more slippery before washing. We recommend hand washing with a no-rinse soap.  Hang to dry and do not iron.  You can use the shoulder strap covers to avoid having to wash your baby carrier every day.

Note that there may be some differences in the color scheme, as each baby carrier is unique and cut from a striped fabric with several shades.
